James Martin Launches First Leeds Restaurant

Celebrity Chef James Martin recently opened his first restaurant, ‘The Leeds Kitchen,’ situated within the Alea casino and entertainment venue at Clarence Dock, Leeds.

The one million square foot site, which launched in 2009, already houses such establishments as Café Aagrah, Mumtaz and The Bird – run by double Michelin-starred chef Vineet Bhatia – and is home to the Royal Armouries Museum and Leeds’ largest conference centre, Saviles.

“As I’m a born-and-bred Yorkshireman, I have been searching for the right location for some time and Clarence Dock has everything I am looking for,” said Martin, who will also provide catering for Alea’s own events and conferencing facilities – including a private cinema and two spacious function rooms with integrated bars.

Michael Silberling, CEO of Alea owner London Clubs International, commented: “James’s passion for excellence and the quality of dining experience he guarantees will bring a new dimension not just to Alea, but to Clarence Dock and Leeds as a whole.”
