Following the success of our 2010 Restaurant Awards, and its subsequent Gala Dinner held at the City Pavilion last December, we are pleased to announce that registration for the Spice Times Restaurant Awards 2011 has opened.
The 2010 awards and Gala Dinner event were sponsored by such world-recognised brands as Pepsi, J20, Kingfisher Beer, Veetee Rice and Curries Online, and attracted such media partners as NDTV Imagine, B4U, NTV and Channel i amongst many others. Over 1000 guests and dignitaries enjoyed the banter from hosts Tasmin Lucia Khan, of ITV’s Daybreak and The Apprentice’s Syed Ahmed, and dynamic entertainment from Britain’s Got Talent finalists Signature and the award winning Flex FX dance troupe.
Last year marked our first attempt at an award ceremony that reflected public opinion, and this year we hope to improve on it in every way possible, with an advanced voting system and a number of changes in response to suggestions from last year’s participants.
The participating restaurants stand a chance to win in one of 4 categories:
- The restaurant with the highest number of votes in each district will receive a certificate for Best Local Restaurant
- The restaurant with the highest number of votes in each county will receive a certificate for Best in County
- The 4 highest voted restaurants in each Region will enter the live vote at the Gala Dinner, held at the Hilton Park Lane, London, on the 30th October, where audience and industry will decide the Regional Winners
- The regional winners will enter the live vote at the Gala Dinner, where audience and industry will decide the Spice Times National Winner
Our goal remains the same: to supply an award that better represents the restaurant industry. Unlike similar food industry awards, our winners will be decided by the nation’s greatest food critics; the British public. Who better to judge than Britain’s curry loving diners?
Once again, nominations and votes can only be made through the Spice Times website, www.spicetimes.co.uk. Restaurants will put themselves forward by registering online, where they will soon also be able to download a media kit to help their campaign and encourage customers to vote for their favourite restaurant or takeaway throughout September 2011. Remember, every vote counts!

The award ceremony and gala dinner will take place at the Hilton Park Lane, London, on the 30th October.

Spice Times will give full media coverage of the event, and winners will be greeted by the team and be photographed and interviewed.
All participants that proceed to the Gala Dinner live voting event will be required to provide a 30 second video presentation of their restaurant.
