Below are some brilliant ones that you can add to your diet, as part of a meal, or as a healthy alternative to crisps and chocolate.

Almonds and Walnuts

Of course, this is only the un-salted type. Nuts are fantastic for you as they are a great source of Protein which can make you feel full for longer. They also contain high levels of fatty acids which can help prevent heart disease.

Flax Seeds

Seeds, just like nuts are a brilliant alternative to the usual snacks of crisps and other highly un-health foods. Flax seeds have been proven to also have high levels of fatty acids and also even fight diabetes.

Flax seeds are also thought to lower cholesterol, especially in women and may stunt the growth of tumours within the body.


Eggs get a lot of criticism due to their high cholesterol and fat levels. Enjoyed in moderation, eggs can improve the quality of your hair and nails.

Eggs are one of the only foods that contain Vitamin D. The best way to enjoy eggs is to make egg whites with a slice of wholegrain toast which gives a kick start to fibre levels.
